Yammer and Business Software Provider NetSuite Collaborate to Offer 'New Enterprise Systems of Engagement'

During the keynote address at SuiteWorld 2011, Zach Nelson (News - Alert), CEO of NetSuite, a leader in cloud computing business software management solutions and David Sacks, CEO of Yammer, a leader in enterprise social networking, spoke about a newly formed joint effort that allows important data to be socialized within the enterprise.

The new joint product demonstration showed how activities taking place in a system of record such as NetSuite (News - Alert)—invoices from finance users, product shipping orders, and sales reps placing orders can be "socialized" and transmitted as an "activity stream" to Yammer's (News - Alert) enterprise social networking platform, a press release stated. Through importing content from NetSuite, Yammer Activity Streams will give users instant visualization into what is going on inside NetSuite (which now can take place within the Yammer program), where users can simply share data and use a much less complex platform in order to interact with colleagues.

"Yammer is a secure social layer that can make all enterprise applications more collaborative and engaging," said David Sacks, founder and CEO, Yammer. "With the NetSuite integration, we'll be able to import highly relevant content from NetSuite and drive real-time collaboration around it."

The new solution combines two technology advances, according to company officials. In NetSuite, a new SuiteApp named SuiteSocial allows users to automatically transition business data to be used with social networking and collaboration applications. The NetSuite SuiteSocial content can be seamlessly integrated and presented to Yammer users as activity stories in Yammer's new Activity Streams, with the most relevant stories being placed directly into the user's primary feed.

"Yammer and NetSuite share a common vision where systems of record such as NetSuite can communicate through systems of engagement such as Yammer to make enterprise collaboration and communication more efficient," said Zach Nelson, president and CEO of NetSuite. "The new combination of NetSuite and Yammer is an important advancement for NetSuite customers to enable easy communication and collaboration around activity taking place within NetSuite—in a private and social Yammer environment."

According to company officials, Yammer Activity Streams are expected to launch in Q2, while the NetSuite integration will take place in early Q3. The Yammer Activity Stories API will be available to all third-party developers in Q3.
